You did it, congratulations! You’ve laid a strong foundation for the year ahead to be, do + have the success you’re looking for. If you’re just joining us, you can start Day 1 here.
You’re not behind, because …
Yesterday you got specific about the things you need to do to reach your goals. And you posted the tasks and activities that you need to do in each of your different life categories to get you from where you are to where you want to go.
Here is a snapshot of my Focus | Role activities from yesterday’s exercise :
Faith :: daily Bible reading + journalling
Family :: weekly meetings, afternoon walks, caravan trips, games nights, regular dates
Home :: organise + de-clutter garage, finish organising digital files, set up automatic backups
Health :: daily exercises and stretches, stock based meals, more joyful activities
Wealth :: weekly account keeping, automatic savings plan
Social :: birthday greetings, regular meet ups, more phone calls
Earn :: create WhiteSpace community, expand range with more commercial use planners, increase design clients
Learn :: home schooling, read a book a month + implement what I’ve learnt, finish training
These are the activities that will fill my Time Map (FUSElife Planner Playbook, page 29). By scheduling time for these activities I know that I have time for the things that matter and I’ll be on track to reach my goals this year.
Recently I found an article showing that science has done the research + proven the results of goal setting.
A study at the Dominican University has proven that those who write down their goals accomplished significantly more than those who don’t. Just by writing down your goals you are going to achieve more than the person who simply thinks about them.
I’m using the Classic Planner for Begin Fresh with a splash of paint, washi tape and word stickers.

An interesting outcome from that study showed that you can almost double your rate of success if you :
- analyse your goals and the resources you need to accomplish them
- then write down your goals
- set commitments to achieve them
- share your goals with a friend
- and send a weekly progress report to your friend

Day 7 :: One Word
The past few years I’ve chosen a word to guide me though the year. Actually I think the words have chosen me.
It’s been surprising how each word has been a summary of my journey. By the end of the year my one word becomes a reflection of the challenges I’ve overcome, the progress I’ve made and the common thread of the lessons I’ve learned.
Your word may be something that is speaking you, inspires you to be the kind of person you want to be or something you want to work on.
Whatever your word, enjoy getting creative with it in your planner and use it as motivation throughout the year ahead.

Today’s exercise
Choose one word + enjoy getting creative with it in your planner, like a vision board. Use it for encouragement and inspiration in the year ahead as you work on your goals.
This year my word is FLOW. My journey the past coupe of years has been learning more about who I am and challenging my beliefs on what ’s possible. Now it’s time to dive in deep where the current flows and do what I know I can do. No more standing on the sidelines, wondering or wishing.
Each time I see my word it will remind me to keep my thoughts, goals and action in align with my goals. To stay in the flow of seeing my Think Big dreams happen, even when it’s scary. It’ll remind me to #takeAction every. single. day as I work on my One Thing goal.
